Apprenticed at the age of 14 to Joe Hall, Shep rode a number of winners until increasing weight put him over the hurdles. Shep rode successfully for a number of years and during this time he was the Stable Foreman to Joe Hall. He was with Joe for 28 years before joining the Richard Jolly Racing stables in 2002.
Shep is very dedicated worker and is a real horseman, he brings a wealth of experience with race horses to the stable, and he is such a valuable member of the team at Richard Jolly Racing.
Shep’s knowledge shines out on race days with his vast knowledge of knowing intimately each individual horse in the stable, track conditions and on course strategies which give the stable an
added advantage. “It's not a job to me but a lifelong passion” says Shep.
