Wet Weather Double
Praying for wet weather and it arrived to help provide the trainer with a double at Morphettville.
Valace and Disquiet improve lengths on soft going and they got it at racing headquarters after overnight rain and consistent showers throughout the day.
Disquiet was particularly impressive, spotting smart sprinter Likable Will several lengths at the 300m mark of the Allan Scott Park Handicap (1200m) and really knuckling down to the task for top jockey Chad Lever.
The five-year-old hardly wanted to go at all last start but Jolly explained the ground was too firm for him.
"He ran on OK late that day but he just didn't want to stretch out at all on the hard ground," Jolly said.
"He grows a leg when it's wet. I didn't really expect to get this much rain but when it came he was always going to be suited."
Sporting a somewhat unlikely smile after the win was South Australian Jockey Club chairman and Jolly stable stalwart David Peacock, who sold Disquiet to the trainer to on-sell to other regular clients.
"I'm delighted both for the new owners and my broodmare," Peacock said.
In contrast, stable apprentice Libby Hopwood was mockingly stamping her feet as Disquiet's connections gathered in the mounting yard to celebrate the victory.
Hopwood, however, had a victory of her own to celebrate earlier in the day when Valace was much too strong for her rivals in the Sloan Sands Handicap (1100m).
